Pernem, North Goa | Best yoga retreats & teacher training courses

When heading to the far north of Goa and the beaches of Ashwem, Mandrem & Arambol, here's where to look for your daily yoga classes, accredited teacher training courses & wellness retreats. If you happen to be staying a bit farther south in Bardez (Anjuna, Assagao, Saligao, etc) you'll find plenty of options here. Anahata Retreat | Ashvem


Looking for a calm, restorative holiday with an opportunity to go inwards and explore yoga, meditation, cooking, or even sound healing? Then Anahata Retreat nestled into the palms of Ashwem Beach is the ideal spot for you. The retreat has 16 eco-cottages and rooms, with either beach front or garden views and an in-house spa & restaurant. Anahata hosts various drop-in yoga & meditation classes Monday to Saturday each week with daily, weekly and monthly pass options. Their collaborative retreats are held throughout Goa's high season. Palm Grove Beach Resort | Ashvem


Palm Groves is a beautiful, thoughtfully designed, 20 bungalow eco-resort right on the beach of one of Goa's most idilic locations, next door to Anahata. They are open year round and offer daily drop-in yoga classes for both guests and non-guests, as well as regular multi-day / week retreats with instructors from around the world. Ashiyana Yoga Resort | Mandrem


A little different from the other yoga resorts, the Ashiyana Yoga Resort, located in Mandrem, not only holds retreats and classes but also provides spa facilities and beauty therapies, along with massages and Turkish saunas. They have a swimming pool and accommodations to suit your budget, ranging from $400 a week for beauty and rejuvenating retreats to $600 a week for a single hut, with buffet food and all other yoga activities. The Mandala Yoga & Art Resort | Mandrem


Situated on the riverside in Mandrem, North Goa, The Mandala was created by a number of designers from various countries. Various styles of yoga are offered throughout the season. Other facilities and activities include a healthy restaurant, juice bar, river kayaking, and birdwatching. Four types of stunning accommodations are offered to suit different budgets; Lake View Room, The Yantra Tents, The Chalets, and Ganesh View Room. The Yantra Tents share a communal bathroom and start from $40 per night. Expect to pay upwards of $105 for The Chalets, while the other rooms cost approximately from $80 per night. Samata Holistic Retreat Centre | Arambol


Samata is both a holistic retreat centre, small scale organic farm and earth based education centre found inland from Arambol. When it comes to yoga, they offer various retreats and training courses with onsite access to Chinese doctors, acupuncture, Tibetan medicine, Ayurveda, Vedic astrology, and a wide range of body work and massage. They have 19 rooms, swimming pool and 150 year old mango tree, alongside their organic garden and holistic kitchen. Samata organizes both residential retreats as well as more casual drop in classes. Or for those looking to volunteer, Samata also has opportunities for those interested in helping out in the gardens, kitchen or YogiArt school, a holistic education centre for children aged 2 to 12. HIYC | Arambol


Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre in Arambol, is well known throughout India for it’s intensive yoga classes not only for laymen but also for teachers. They have centres in three locations in India, with Goa being one of them. Their Arambol centre was established in 1985 by Anand Sagar, and thus carries more than 30 years experience. They have 5-day courses, intensive courses, teachers courses and special courses both in yoga and meditation.
